SiteCam, SiteZAP and SiteProxy can be combined in numerous ways to meet your Webcam networking needs. The following schema are provided to illustrate typical network configurations used in setting up an integrated Webcam system. Of course you are not limited to these, but may want to review them to give you an idea of what is possible.

General Bandwidth Considerations:
To calculated your required bandwidth for the live streaming video feed (at the medium sized video resolution), use the following formula:
For example, if you expect 10 concurrent users, and you set a frame rate of 2 frames per second at medium resolution (in the SiteCam software), you will need the following bandwidth: B = 10 streams x 2 frames/sec x 64 kbits = 1280 Kbps or 1.3 Mbps As you can see from the above calculation, if you expect 10 viewers (streams) at once, you will require a fairly high bandwidth connection. For example, if you have the camera server connected to a 768 Kbps DSL you will experience poor performance and delayed video feed. To increase your performance, you may want to upgrade to the SiteProxy rebroadcast software. SiteProxy receives a single stream from the camera server (on-site) and rebroadcasts it to a second (usually more powerful) server at your internet location where you have much higher bandwidth available. Please call NuSpectra, or visit our Web site at www.nuspectra.com for more information on this powerful rebroadcast software. |
